There are three options for booking and paying for a private security test. Regardless of your preferred booking option, each test is $35.00 CAD plus 13% HST for a total of $39.55 CAD. The fee includes sitting for the test and marking the test; it does not include the ServiceOntario licensing fee.
All tests must be booked in advance, at least by 15:00 on the day before the test. Walk-ins at the test centres whether for booking, inquiries, or taking the test are not permitted. Test centre invigilators do not have any cash on hand and cannot book test appointments.
We recommend that all security guard and private investigator candidates book their own appointments. With your permission, ministry-identified training entities may also book the security guard and private investigator tests on your behalf.

Booking a private security test online using www.ontariosecuritytesting.com is the preferred method. Online booking is available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, in English and French. Through the online method, you have access to all available test sessions and locations.
To book online, you must have a valid credit card (Visa, MasterCard). Prepaid MasterCards or Visa Vanilla cards are also accepted using the online booking method. You may purchase these at most gas stations, convenience stores, and payday loan centres. Using this method, you will be able to schedule an appointment immediately.
All online payments are processed securely and immediately. Your credit card statement will itemize the test charge as a charge from Serco SGT. You can print a copy of your receipt at the end of the booking process. An appointment confirmation and appointment reminder will be emailed to you.

Payment Options and Refunds
All fees must be paid in Canadian dollars. Fees can be paid by credit card (VISA, MasterCard), certified business cheque, certified personal cheque, bank draft, or money orders. Sorry, cash, Visa debit, debit cards, travellers cheques, and e-transfers cannot be processed at this time. Security guard and private investigator test bookings cannot be cancelled or rescheduled. Once booked, the appointment for the test is final and the associated fees are not refundable. Please see our cancellation policy for details.
